What are the band up to at the moment?
Our guitarist Jez and I are starting to write our new album...now I got the bug again there just aint stopping me,The Kings and Queens album was good but ..you aint seen nothing yet!!...it should be out by the end of the year if all goes to plan..as well as that its touring and back to the building site.

After riding for several years with various motorcycle gangs Magoo and Animal put together The Anti Nowhere League in 1980. Although Magoo had spent the whole of 1979 trying to teach Animal how to play guitar (Space Oddity I think) they came to the conclusion that Animal would never be able to play Fuck All so he might as well be the singer!! The Band collaborated with Bones (drummer) and Baggy Elvy (bass) to play a whole bunch of bad cover versions just for a laugh and to play live on Tunbridge Wells Common the same time as the annual Carnival was taking place , which they did and immediately got arrested! In the local rag the following week the league hit the headlines being called a Cacophony of noise

By 1981 the band had signed a deal with WXYZ records and managed to wrangle an opening slot on the Apocalypse Punk Tour with The Exploited, Chron Gen and Anti Pasti. Next up was the infamous 'So What' tour with bands such as Chelsea, Chron Gen and the Defects causing widespread offense to everyone, they were hated!. From Tony Blackburn to Mary Whitehouse everybody had a go, but they didn't give a FUCK, the illegal substances were flowing, our records were selling and animal was promised a new Harley. Then bang, the obscene publication squad came down on them they seized all records from the offices and from the distributors, Faulty Products. The naughty boys had turned into criminals. It swept like wild fire, all the records were removed from shops and they were banned from radio and television, although during all this they did go to do a Top of the Pops appearance but when they found out animal had bought a three foot axe up with them they would not let them go on! so they locked themselves into a changing room and refused to leave until they got paid , which they did and then escorted the band off the premises, never to set foot in the BBC again..........they had their chance and they blew it, FUCK EM the band were off to the states with the UK Subs.

'Hardcore Storms America' Tour which was ANWL and UK Subs, it took them around the USA for about six weeks during which time they had been thrown off American Airlines (to cut a long funny story short) for touching up the air stewardess's, puking over fellow travelers and calling the captain an 'Old Cunt'(it was Charlie's fault) no sense of humour these yanks. The tour finished at the 'Peppermint Lounge' in New York which turned into a mass riot and they all ended up in the clap clinic.

Yugoslavia was next..off to record a live album. That even ran into trouble. The authorities in Yugoslavia would not release the tapes because they had made a few comments about their recently deceased President Tito. So that was hacked out the tapes before they could go to press, then as it was being pressed the police came down on them again and made them beep out all offensive words, (including a few whens, its and ands) by now the band couldnt even fart without getting arrested.

By 1986 the band had left the punk label and signed to GWR records, took on a new drummer JB and recorded the Perfect Crime album in the ICC Christian recording studios in Eastbourne ( Ive been to Hastings and Brighton too) the album really did not get finished because when GWR heard the album in its rough cut and they refused to put any more money into it hence no professional producer and it was released in its rough cut to try and recoup some of the money they had invested. One thing lead to another and the band decided to call it a day.Although they did get back together in 87 for a one off show in their hometown and recorded live and loud for link records.

Then out of the blue in 92.. It was pissing hard with rain and animal got a phone call from JB saying that Metallica would like him to go and sing So What with them at Wembley, his reply was who the fuck are they and Ive got to work on my fucking car. JB phoned back later and said look these blokes are , I think you should do it. Seeing as animal had not been on stage for four years he couldnt remember the words to So What. So he had to learn them again as JB drove him up there, mostly on the central reservation!

As he waited on the edge of the stage waiting to go on it suddenly dawned on him he was just about to stand in front of 10,000 punters who didnt know him from Adam and sing a song that he couldnt fucking remember.all that kept running through his head was RUN you silly old fucker.

After the show and chatting with Metallica they suggested the League get back on the road and do some shows. Animal had the bug again.Over the next 3 years the band began touring again. Signing up with German record label Impact Records and released the Pig Iron CD .Then followed scum album and then out of control on receiver records.

Finally October 2005 saw the release and a return to form for the eagerly awaited new studio album Kings and Queens on captain oi records.To coincide with the release the band embarked on their biggest and most successful uk tour in years.2006 has seen the band hitting the studio to demo new tracks for the next album which is already written! If you liked "kings and queens" you should hear the new stuff!! In the meantime we are giving the PIG IRON album a proper Uk release in sept ,it will feature bonus tracks ,new art work and we will have new range of merchandise aswell as a full uk tour kicking off on sept 8th in Dublin... so watch out and lock up your daughters the league are back
